Tier 3 Data Centre build
Cumulus has acted as a trusted advisor to one of New Zealand's fastest growing outsourced hosting providers for several years. Recently, Cumulus were commissioned to design, project manage and help implement the building of two Tier 3 data centres in Auckland and Wellington.

The Assignment
To work extensively with the business to determine and document the requirements for a planned new data centre. Undertake detailed analysis to ensure that appropriate needs (both current and future) and appropriate technology roadmaps were accommodated. Translate the above into a specification for a new data centre that determines:

Size of the facility
Type of construction
Type of ancillary services
Potential layout of equipment

Undertake detailed costing and quantity surveying analysis to determine budget costs and timeframes for construction. Undertake a detailed site survey to identify suitable land areas for construction and perform construction risk analysis and mitigation

Tier 3 Data Centre build

Server Room upgrade
One of New Zealands largest utility companies had a server room that was fill to capacity and struggling with cooling and power requirements. Cumulus and its parent company managed the upgrade of the server room to handle the current requirements and to also 'future proof' the environment for growth.


UPS upgrade
One of the Data Centres that manages the control of vital electrical supply across New Zealand needed to install 2 new UPS systems. Cumulus was commissioned to design, plan and implement the new systems. The project contained significant risk to the client due to the vital nature of the systems running within the data centre.
